This unusual piece was made for a client who wanted to display a fine antique silk shawl. She gave me the general specifications - 60" tall with a 30" wide Tbar, and made of dark wood.

It is made from Walnut. I derived the design of the graceful elongated vase curves of the upright post and the gently tapered horizontal Tbar from my Shaker rocking chairs.

This shtender, or prayer book stand, was built to a client's detailed specifications.  It is made from Walnut, and measures 24" wide by 18" deep on the table top.  The top slopes up at an angle of 22-1/2 degrees.

It is light weight, but extremely strong.  To prevent cracking due to the extreme climate changes we experience here in Minnesota, the broad top is a laminated construction with Walnut veneer faces.
